I liked it for 10 years.....until Feb. 2013 when they decided to harass me with Security ringing my doorbell unannounced and I haven't done a damn thing wrong. Been a loyal, responsible tenant for a frickin decade and now they want to give me trouble. f**k those bitches.

Nice twist for when ppl complain: speak about the exact opposite! Good suggestion.
I like the way it looks around here and the fact that everything is right here in this big community.
If you are not a person who like to travel out too much like the older people I know, this is the place for you. Even me, because sometime I just want to run downstairs instead of travel to get items, you know?
When I hit that subway, usually it is to visit someone else or go to work. Nothing else really because whatever I need, I find it in Parkchester!
That is the sweet part!

Other than the music series at Uno, can you tell me what jazz spots are close by?

My answer is, EVERYTHING!
There isn't much to complain about when you come to realize no where is perfect.
If you compare Parkchester to any other major residential developments in New York City, like Co-op City, here in the Bronx, Starrett City, in Brooklyn, and Fordham Hills, also here in the Bronx, Parkchester wins, hands down.
One may complain about the parking but if you consider the garages in Parkchester as an option, you'll find parking to not be such an issue. Yes, it is understood, the parking rates are a bit high but when compared to other places, it is the going price.
All mentioned above is just a matter of opinion and yes, Parkchester works for me, but that doesn't mean it is for everyone, nor does it mean that Parkchester is perfect. You have to know what you are looking for and find a place to call home based upon your needs and wishes.

Appreciate your cohesive and intelligent response ... especially the part where you write ".... no where is perfect." (People need to wake up to this FACT)
But I have to disagree with you on one point. Starrett City in Brooklyn is VERY, VERY, VERY nice. I wouldn't agree Parkchester is a better. A tie perhaps. I have relatives there I visit often. Man, to tell the truth I might even have to tip my hat toward Starrett City when I really think about it
.
One more thing: I agree Parkchester is a top-notch place to live, especially for working class people who expect decency, sufficient stores, amenities, a neighborly feel and relatively safe place to live.
Myself, I'm very content with living in Parkchester.

Parkchester IS relatively safe.
People that emphatically harp on Parkchester as unsafe obviously haven't been to muchless lived in truly grimier neighborhoods all throughout the five boroughs.
